Griffin, Sun still in playoff chase (Basketball)
Eagle River’s Kelsey Griffin and the Connecticut Sun survived another slow start today, rallying to beat the team ahead of them in the WNBA’s Eastern Conference standings.
Connecticut beat Washington 76-67 by overcoming a nine-point first quarter deficit.
Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, started at small forward and delivered seven points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes.
With the win, Connecticut moved within two games of Washington for the fourth and final playoff spot.
The 6-foot-2 Alaskan is averaging 5.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in 28 games.
