Levale excels in Weber St. scrimmage (Football)

August 18, 2010

After being bounced back and forth from offensive line to defensive line in his first season at Weber State University, Juneau’s Alofaifo Levale seems to have finally found a home at defensive tackle.

The 6-foot-2, 310-pound sophomore is proving to have a nose for the ball, too.

The Alaskan intercepted a tipped pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown in Tuesday’s intrasquad scrimmage, showing why he’s slated to start when the Wildcats open the season at Boston College.

Levale, of Crimson Bears fame, moved to defense near the midway point of last season. By the end, he was played like a veteran.

In the FCS playoffs against William & Mary he delivered a career-high five tackles, four of them unassisted.

Weber State is poised for another postseason run after earning a No. 19 preseason ranking in the FCS (formerly I-AA).
