New name, same game for Hibbert (Volleyball)

Sarah Hibbert

Never mind a vacation, Anchorage’s Sarah Hibbert spent the summer break working on her game in preparation for her junior season at the University of Utah.

She developed a back-row game and worked on her overall ball control. That, after a strong showing in spring practice when she zeroed in her consistency as an attacker.

Yet she still found time to marry Ryan Collette.

She will take the court under her new name Friday when the Utes open the season against UC Davis in the Utah Classic in Salt Lake City.

Hibbert Collette, of South High fame, emerged as a rising force at the net last season when she finished third on the team with 2.4 kills per set. She started 27 of 29 matches in helping the Utes go 17-12.

The 6-foot-1 Alaska outside hitter delivered double-figure kill totals in 13 matches and led or tied for the team lead eight times. She boomed a career-high 21 kills to go along with a season-high nine digs at Utah State in her signature moment.
