Campbell named a ‘Primetime Player’ (Soccer)

Buoyed by back-to-back clean sheets, University of Denver goalkeeper Lara Campbell of Anchorage was recognized as one of the College Sports 360 Primetime Players of the Week.
The sophomore recorded two shutouts and made a combined 13 saves in consecutive games at Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky, propelling the 8-2 Pioneers to No. 25 in this week’s Soccer America Poll.
It was the first time since 2001 that a Denver goalkeeper accomplished the feat of blanking both teams on the road.
“Lara saved us in (those) two games,” Denver coach Jeff Hooker told the team’s website. “Those are two of the toughest places to play in our conference, so to come out with two shutouts was big for us.”
Campbell, of South High fame, has won eight of 10 starts this season, holding opponents to one goal or less in all eight wins.
