They say the goalpost is a goalie’s best friend, but when it comes to the University of Houston women’s soccer team the keepers might say Rochelle Fields of Anchorage.

The Alaska defender is one of the reasons why the NCAA Division I Cougars have allowed just five goals in 10 matches.

Fields, of South High fame, has started six of nine matches.

She has attempted three shots on goal, although her job is to stop goals rather than scoring them.

Houston is off to a 7-2-1 start, the school’s best record through 10 matches in team history.
