Harris signs with D-League team (Basketball)

Former Alaska high school player of the year Ramon Harris took one step closer to fulfilling his dream of playing in the NBA today.
The 6-foot-7 Anchorage forward signed a contract with the National Basketball Developmental League and will suit up for the reigning champs.
Harris, of West High fame, will play with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, an affiliate of the Houston Rockets. He’s got an agent and everything.
“It’s a blessing to have the opportunity to continue playing basketball at a professional level,” Harris said in a release.
“My goal is to play the game at its highest level in the NBA and the D-League provides a great opportunity for me to develop my game and be seen by NBA scouts every night.”
Harris played his college ball at the University of Kentucky, where he was a part-time starter during his career.
Last season he averaged 3.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 16 minutes per game for a team that featured five NBA first-round draft picks and reached the Elite Eight.
His best season was as a junior when he started 28 of 31 games and averaged close to 6 and 4.
