Murphy-Logue’s career ends with loss (Soccer)
It’s probably hard for Anchorage’s Stephen Murphy-Logue to believe, but he won’t play another soccer match for Macalester College after Saturday’s loss.
The Scots fell 2-0 to Wisconsin-Whitewater in the opening round of the D3 national tournament this weekend, ending Murphy-Logue’s all-conference career with the St. Paul, Minn., school that recruited him out of West High.
The senior midfielder enjoyed the best season of his life to lift Macalester back into the NCAA playoffs. He just couldn’t get past the first round.
Murphy-Logue delivered 20 points in 20 matches, highlighted by a career-high eight goals on just 22 shots on goal. He earned All-MIAC honors for the second consecutive season.
He bagged two winning goals and was a perfect 4 for 4 on penalty kicks.
Macalester College finished with a 14-5-1 record.
For his college career, Murphy-Logue delivered 16 goals and 8 assists in 73 matches. He also earned 67 starts.
