PLU’s Isett named All-Conference (Football)
The Pacific Lutheran University football team enjoyed its best season in a decade, and Juneau’s Richard Isett played a major role in the winning formula.
The all-conference linebacker was the leading tackler on a team that won eight of nine games and just missed earning an at-large berth to the NCAA D3 tournament.
PLU finished second in the Northwest Conference and was ranked No. 8 in the West Region.
Isett, a 6-foot-2, 208-pound senior, moved from defensive back to outside linebacker in PLU’s 3-4 defense and delivered his best year in college.
He led the team in tackles (64), tackles for loss (14½) and sacks (5) to earn All-Northwest Conference first team honors.
The eight victories was the most wins in a season by a PLU team since 2001. This year’s squad also compiled a .889 winning percentage, the highest since the Lutes’1999 NCAA national championship team that finished 13-1.
In addition to being an all-conference football player, Isett is a member of the Dean’s List who is majoring in political science with a minor in history.
He plans to become an attorney.
