Stonebraker reaps rewards at Loyola (Soccer)
Anchorage’s Tricia Stonebraker finished her freshman season at Loyola University Chicago in fine fashion.
The freshman midfielder played in every match, making 12 starts. She netted three goals, including two winners. And she was named to the All-Conference Second Team and All-Newcomer Team in the Horizon League.
Stonebraker, of Service High fame, is just one of many Alaska soccer players excelling at the NCAA D1 level.
She scored goals against Wright State, Youngstown State and Butler and finished with 29 shots on goal, including four during a 1-0 loss to Wright State in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament.
On Sept. 24, Stonebraker delivered an assist and scored the deciding goal in double OT to secure a 2-1 win. Nearly a month later she found the back of the net again to highlight another 2-1 victory.
At Service, Stonebraker was a high school All-American in 2009 and the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year in 2010.
