Doron Perkins

His scoring average is down, but what does Anchorage’s Doron Perkins care?

He’s the starting point guard for a first-place team in the opening leg of the Euroleague knockout stage.

Israeli power Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv owns an overwhelming four-game lead in the Group A standings with a 9-1 mark, thanks to a 9-game winning streak.

Perkins, of Bartlett High fame, leads the team in minutes (30) while ranking fourth in scoring (8.7 ppg), the lowest of his 5-year professional career.

The 6-foot-2 playmaker also averages 5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.3 steals.

Perkins, who re-signed with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv for more money, is proving to be worth the extra scratch.

Through the first 10 Euroleague games, he has set single-game career highs in points (20), offensive rebounds (3), assists (8), steals (7), blocked shots (2) and minutes (36).
