Cousin steps up with career-high 23 (Basketball)
They say 13 isn’t a lucky number, but don’t tell that to Anchorage’s Anthony Cousin.
It took the former Alaska all-star guard 13 games at Illinois State University to have his signature moment in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Cousin, of South High fame, was back in the starting lineup and delivered a career-high 23 points and 5 assists tonight in an 81-72 loss at Missouri State. He easily bettered his previous high of 14.
It’s just the third time the 5-foot-11 sophomore bagged double figures in his first season with the 8-5 Redbirds.
Cousin made 8 of 11 shots from the field (both 3s) and 5 of 6 free throws in 29 minutes.
He had a hand in 33 of his team’s 71 points (47 percent) en route to more than quadrupling his season scoring average coming into the game.
