Bartlett boys new No. 1 (Basketball)

February 23, 2011

For the first time this season the Bartlett boys basketball team has wrestled the No. 1 ranking away from the West in the Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches Poll, released today.

The Golden Bears leapfrogged the previously top-ranked Eagles in the 4A boys poll after beating them 76-70 in overtime last night, thanks to the late-game heroics from Jal Deng, Damon Sherman-Newsome and Trenton Anthony.

Bartlett is 19-2 on the season.

Juneau-Douglas maintained the No. 1 spot in the 4A girls poll for yet another week.

The Monroe Catholic boys and Barrow girls maintained top spots in the 3A poll.
