Kelter assists in WCHA crown (Hockey)
Eagle River’s Alev Kelter had a hand in helping the No. 1-ranked University of Wisconsin women’s hockey team win the WCHA regular-season title over the weekend with a home sweep of Bemidji State.
The starting defenseman collected her second assist of the season in a 7-1 victory that clinched it.
The 5-foot-8 sophomore has played in only 13 games for the Badgers, in large part because she was late joining the team due to her obligations with the Wisconsin soccer team.
The Badgers are 12-1 with Kelter on the ice and 26-2-2 overall.
Kelter, of Chugiak High fame, has a +7 rating to go along with 5 blocked shots and 7 penalties for 14 minutes.
In 34 career games with the hockey team, she has tallied 1 goal and 7 assists on 46 shots on goal.
