Anchorage’s Sylvia Bullock saw her dream season come to an end after the University of Miami dropped an 88-83 decision to the Oklahoma Sooners in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Charlottesville, Va.

The Hurricanes finished 28-5 this season, captured the ACC championship and won a first-round game for the first time since 1993.

So they weren’t going away easily.

Miami erased a 15-point deficit to tie the game with 3:26 remaining. The team didn’t score again until Bullock’s basket inside with 47 seconds to play. That made it but the Sooners hit a pair of free throws six seconds later to restore their six-point lead and squash the comeback.

Bullock, of South High fame, started at forward and played 29 minutes.

The 6-foot-2 junior scored 5 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and added a steal, assist and blocked shot.

She started all 33 games, compiling 140 points, 132 rebounds, 42 assists, 33 steals and 29 blocked shots. She shot .536 from the field.
