Colbern honored by Brown U. (Football)
One of the finest student-athletes from Alaska has been awarded one of the more prestigious football awards at Brown University.
Anchorage’s Patxi Colbern was honored with the Ernest T. Savignano Award, which is given annually to a Brown football player who epitomizes Savignano, Class of ’42, who was a varsity letterman in football, baseball, basketball, hockey and boxing.
Colbern, of South High fame, is a sophomore defensive end who played in nine of 10 games.
The 6-foot-4, 255-pounder registered 11 tackles and two sacks in his first season with the varsity.
Colburn is currently concentrating in Commerce, Organization and Entrepreneurship (COE) and has proven to be first class on and off the gridiron.
The Savignano Award was established in 1994 by his classmates, former players and friends. He was known best as a man of leadership, integrity, ability and warmth.
