After back-to-back subpar seasons, Bradley University made a switch at men’s basketball coach and introduced Geno Ford as its new bench boss.

That suits Will Egolf of Haines just fine.

Egolf, of Juneau-Douglas fame, met his new coach at a press conference Monday.

“What I liked about him most was he’s young, energetic, intense, personable,” Egolf told the Peoria Journal Star. “Right off the bat, we felt real comfortable with him.”

The 36-year-old Ford comes from Kent State, where he won consecutive Coach of the Year titles in his final two seasons on campus.

Now he takes over a Bradley program that went 12-20 last season and 15-16 the one before that.

Egolf averaged a career-best 8 points in 32 games last season as a junior, a stat the 6-foot-9 junior forward hopes to improve on during his final college season.
