Engel Gatorade Player of the Year (Basketball)
Dimond High School playmaker Keiahnna Engel of Anchorage has been named Gatorade Alaska Girls Basketball Player of the Year for the second straight season.
The 5-foot-9 all-state guard has led Dimond to a 24-2 record this season and a No. 4 seed at the Class 4A state tournament this week at Sullivan Arena.
Engel has also been outstanding in the classroom with a 3.10 GPA.
On the court, she averages 19 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals and won Cook Inlet Conference MVP honors for the third consecutive season. She’s also a two-time state player of the year.
Engel plans to attend Boise State University in the fall.
