Edwards fourth at Big South (Track)
Just call Liberty University the decathlon capital of the Big South Conference.
The school has won the individual title seven times in the last 11 years, and Anchorage’s Drew Edwards could be next.
The 6-foot junior finished fourth at the conference championship for the second consecutive season, collecting 6,041 points. He was more than 800 points behind champion and teammate Geren Woodbridge.
Edwards, of Grace Christian fame, won the 400-meter dash and 1,500-meter run and placed second in the pole vault and shot put to highlight his performance in the grueling 10-event competition.
He is the Liberty University record-holder in the decathlon 1,500 with a time of 4:16.02, set last season at the Big South meet.
Off the track, Edwards is a member of the Presidential Honor Roll and a criminal justice major.
