Alaska’s Joe Kohan was on quite a tear during a recent homestand with the University of Nevada baseball team, earning him Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week honors.

The junior second baseman helped the Wolf Pack go 3-1 against UC Davis and Seattle University, starting all four games and making every play on defense.

At the plate the 6-foot-1 right-hander hit .400 (6 for 15) with 3 runs, 3 walks, 2 doubles, a grand slam and 7 RBIs. His on-base percentage was .500.

Kohan, of Juneau fame, helped Nevada beat Seattle 11-10 with a historic comeback in which the Wolf Pack rallied from down seven runs in the eighth inning.

His grand slam in the ninth pulled Nevada within a run. Another two-run bomb provided the win.

Through 27 games Kohan leads the Wolf Pack with a .337 average, 19 RBIs and 51 total bases.
