Oleson nets 13 in losing effort (Basketball)
North Pole’s Brad Oleson pumped in 13 points and played a Euroleague career-high 35 minutes in a solid performance for Spanish champion Caja Laboral.
Unfortunately it could prevent a 99-77 loss to Israeli power Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv in Game 4 of their Euroleague quarterfinal playoff series. Maccabi won the best-of-5 series three games to one.
Oleson, of UAF fame, made 4 of 9 field goals and 4 of 4 foul shots. He also grabbed 3 rebounds and stole the ball once.
It was his best scoring night in the series, during which he was held scoreless in each of the first two games.
Oleson started at small forward in all four games in the series, averaging 21 minutes and 4.3 points.
In 20 Euroleague games this season the 6-foot-3 playmaker started 11 of them and averaged 6.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists.
His quest for a Euroleague title is finished, but Oleson and Caja Laboral can still capture back-to-back Spanish League championships.
