Evans to mix it up in Canada (Mixed Martial Arts)
UFC veteran Doug Evans of Anchorage will be one of the fighters to highlight Canada’s The Score Fighting Series MMA card at the Hershey Centre on June 10 in Ontario.
The 5-foot-9, 30-year-old will face Canadian Antonio Carvalho, who is widely regarded as one of the top 145-pound fighters in the world not currently under contract with a major organization.
The bout is sure to bring fireworks, which is just fine with Evans.
“I’m very excited to fight Antonio,” Evans told topmmanews.com. “He’s very well rounded and it’s going to be a battle.”
Evans, of AK Wolfpack fame, has a reputation for bringing the action to his opponent.
The Alaska Fighting Championship champ competed in Canada’s theScore Fighting Series in October when he beat Tristan Johnson by submission, using a rear naked choke hold.
Evans is 13-8 in a professional career that dates back to 2006. He started 6-0 before getting his big break with the UFC, where he made his name as arguably Alaska’s toughest pound-for-pound MMA fighter.
