Huggins ends college career in style (Track)
Wasilla’s Hallie Huggins ended her track and field career in style at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
The super senior competed in five events at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships in Easton, Pa.
Huggins, of Colony High fame, won two conference titles a year ago. She didn’t grab another this time around, but she did well just the same.
Her best result was a fifth-place effort in the 100-meter hurdles. She came into the race as the reigning champion.
She ran leadoff on the 4×100 relay team that was sixth and anchored the 4×400 relay that also got sixth.
In the 100, she finished ninth in prelims to miss qualifying for the finals by .03 seconds.
Unfortunately, she did not place in the pole vault – her signature event.
Huggins won the 2010 Patriot League indoor championship and ranks among the all-time greats in Army history.
