Griffin starts, comes up big (Basketball)
Second-year forward Kelsey Griffin of Eagle River earned her first start in five games this season for the Connecticut Sun last night and the move paid immediate dividends.
The 6-foot-2 Alaskan played a season-high 29 minutes and grabbed a season-high eight rebounds in an 83-68 win over visiting Chicago in action.
The meeting pitted the WNBA’s Eastern Conference co-leaders, but now Connecticut (4-1) is atop alone.
Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, looked to be more aggressive by getting to the foul line a season-high six times (4 of 6), the first time she had shot a free throw since opening day.
She scored six points – her season average.
