Madden gets back on track (Baseball)
Following a hiccup, Corey Madden of Anchorage is breathing easy again.
The relief pitcher with the Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs threw 2.2 innings of scoreless relief with five strikeouts in an 8-1 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox.
He also got a rare at-bat, something of a luxury for relief pitchers. But he struck out.
Madden, of East High fame, lowered his season ERA to 3.44 in 18.1 innings over 12 appearances. He has compiled more strikeouts than hits allowed .
Take away his poor outing a week ago and the 27-year-old right-hander has allowed only three earned runs in the last month.
