After opening the season with three straight losses, the University of Southern California women’s soccer team has caught fire.

The Women of Troy have won three straight, keyed by the play of senior midfielder Carly Butcher of Anchorage.

Butcher, of South High fame, helped USC beat Purdue and No. 17 Illinois during the Illini/Boilermaker Cup in West Lafayette, Indiana and made the all-tournament team as a result.

The Alaska player has played in all 49 matches since her sophomore season. USC has a 28-15-6 during that stretch.
