Hardy among final cuts for Bucs (Football)

Anchorage’s Daniel Hardy today was among 26 players released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as NFL teams trimmed their rosters down to 53 players by today.

Hardy, of West High fame, was a seventh-round draft pick out of the University of Idaho and caught four passes for 80 yards in four preseason games.

The 6-foot-4, 249-pound rookie was thought to be a safe to make the team, but the Bucs made a surprising move and released three of five tight ends in the final round of cuts before next week’s season opener.

Hardy, 23, still could have a future in Tampa.

“I find out if I’m on the practice squad tomorrow afternoon,” he told me by text message.
