Madden holds down Zephyrs win (Baseball)
Anchorage’s Corey Madden owned the strike zone tonight.
The relief pitcher for the Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs threw 15 strikes on just 18 pitches while facing three batters during a 3-2 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks.
Madden, of East High fame, recorded two outs, including one by strikeout, in the eighth inning before giving way to another reliever. He also balked.
He earned his fifth hold of the season while lowering his ERA to 4.03 in 22.1 innings.
Tonight’s scoreless effort was the eighth in his last 10 appearances.
