Walker getting defensive at NIU (Volleyball)
Northern Illinois University newcomer Amber Walker of Juneau is making quite the first impression.
The 5-foot-8 defensive specialist is one of the most dependable back-row players, ranking second on the NCAA D1 team in digs and return percentage.
The sophomore transfer is a big reason Northern Illinois has won nine of 12 matches this year.
Walker, of Juneau-Douglas fame, has played in 38 of 40 sets on the season. She has 129 digs for an average of 3.4 per set.
Her ability to play defense makes her one of the better passers on the team, with Walker making only 10 return errors on 198 attempts for a .949 success rate.
