Carver bags two goals in upset bid (Soccer)
Coming back from a knee injury, Blaine Carver of Soldotna has had a tough time getting back to form for the Seattle Pacific University men’s soccer team.
A bona fide scorer, he had zero goals in his first four games.
But that changed today.
Carver delivered two goals late in the second half to fuel a rally that came up short in a 4-3 loss to No. 5 Simon Fraser in NCAA D2 action.
The sophomore netted his first goal in the 67th minute after cleaning up a scramble off a free kick to pull SPU within 3-2.
Simon Fraser scored again a few minutes later before Carver converted a free kick in the 76th minute to cap the scoring.
Last year, Carver bagged eight goals in 18 games to earn GNAC Freshman of the Year honors.
