Walker among MAC dig leaders (Volleyball)
Back-row players in volleyball are a lot like offensive lineman in football in the sense that they are relatively unknown until they make a mistake.
But Alaska’s Amber Walker of Northern Illinois University is in the limelight for the right reason.
Walker, of Juneau-Douglas fame, is one of the most dependable defensive specialists in the Mid-American Conference, ranking eighth with 3.73 digs per set.
She leads Northern Illinois University with 224 digs in 18 matches, fueling 13 victories.
Walker, a sophomore transfer, collected a team-best 22 digs with just two return errors in a four-set victory over Toledo.
Led by her passing, NIU finished with a strong .340 hitting percent – well above the team’s .278 season average.
