Butcher notches point in college finale (Soccer)
November 5, 2011

Anchorage’s Carly Butcher collected an assist in her final game for the University of Southern California women’s soccer team, a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating senior season.
Plagued by missed opportunities, Butcher has seen multiple shots ricochet off the post as if there was a lid on the goal.
It happened again against No. 2 UCLA when she rattled the cage with a booming shot off the crossbar. Unlike before, though, this time her shot bounced within reach of a teammate who cleaned up the mess for a goal in the 47th minute in a 5-2 loss.
It was the first point of the season for Butcher, of South High fame.
For her career, the marvelous midfielder started 55 of 83 games and record 7 goals, 8 assists and 139 shots.
