Ferrin an All-American again (Volleyball)
What a year it was for Anchorage’s Kate Ferrin.
The junior starter with the Chapman University volleyball team earned AVCA D3 All-American Team honors for the second time after a record-breaking season.
Ferrin, of Grace Christian fame, drilled a school record 440 kills – just two better than the previous mark.
“I barely got it,” she told me with a laugh.
The 5-foot-10 middle hitter also led the team in attack percentage (.317), total blocks (44), block solos (10) and block assists (34).
Ferrin twice set a career high with 20 kills. She also tied a career high with 5 blocks.
“It certainly has been another amazing, amazing year,” she said. “Luckily I have been blessed and didn’t experience any major injuries.”
Chapman University finished the season with a 24-9 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA playoffs.
