McWilliams, Carroll College to semis (Football)

The defending NAIA champion Carroll College football team and Alaska’s Noah McWilliams are headed back to the national semifinals.

Carroll College won its 11th straight game by beating Azusa Pacific 17-14 in the tournament quarterfinals at home in Helena, Mont.

McWilliams, of Homer High fame, is a starting linebacker who ranks second on the team with 6 sacks.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder came into the game with 36 tackles, including 7½ for loss.

Carroll College (12-1) beat Azusa Pacific on a 1-yard touchdown run with 1:51 left, capping an 18-play, 78-yard drive that chewed 8:25 of the clock.
