Eielson’s Janay DeLoach isn’t just the best female long jumper in the country she ranks fifth in the world and is a good bet to make Team USA for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

“It’s an amazing feeling because you want it so bad it hurts,” DeLoach told The Coloradoan. “Truly, I think about it every single day.”

DeLoach, of Colorado State fame, is back in Fort Collins, Colo., training, jumping, running and working at the Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital.

The 26-year-old is the defending national indoor champion and outdoor national runner-up. Her winning leap of 22 feet, 11 1/4 inches last February was the top indoor mark in the world for 2011.
