Bullock swats shot No. 103 (Basketball)
Alaska has been very, very good to the University of Miami women’s basketball program.
The first recruit finished as the one of the all-time greats.
The second is on her way.
Anchorage’s Sylvia Bullock continues to climb the school’s all-time list in career blocked shots, swatting two more tonight for the tenth-ranked Hurricanes to give her 103 in 117 games.
Bullock, of South High fame, ranks fifth on the all-time list and has Vicki Plowden in her sights, needing just six more to overtake her for fourth. Bullock has an outside shot of moving up to third at 132.
The 6-foot-2 forward this season is averaging 3.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots in 19 games. Miami, the reigning ACC regular-season champions, is 16-3 overall.
[btw, the first recruit was Jeannie Hebert (1988-92), who is all over the Miami record book, ranking fourth in scoring, second in assists, sixth in field goals, fourth in free throws and eighth in steals]
