Fenumiai’s 3-run HR wins game [Softball]
Azusa Pacific softball players had probably never heard of Juneau’s Brittany Fenumiai.
But after the fifth inning, they will never forget her name.
Fenumiai crushed a three-run home run in the fifth inning to carry Hawaii Pacific to an 8-5 win over Azusa Pacific in Los Angeles.
“The funny thing is I got jammed,” Fenumiai told me.
The former Alaska Gatorade Player of the Year finished the game 2 for 3 with 4 RBIs.
It was her second home run of the season, with her first collegiate bomb coming earlier this season against Chaminade University. She pulled the first one and fisted the second one out of the yard.
“It felt good,” Fenumiai said of her swing.
Through 11 games, she is hitting .250 and ranks third on the team with 7 RBIs. She also has one appearance on the mound and pitched a perfect inning.
Hawaii Pacific, the reigning Pac West champ, is 8-4 overall.
