Perkins shines in European return (Basketball)
Playing a Euroleague game today for the first time in nearly a year, Anchorage’s Doron Perkins showed no ill effects of his injury layoff with a successful debut for Italian pro team Bennet Cantu.
The 6-foot-2 combo guard came off the bench to deliver 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in 27 minutes during a 63-62 loss to Spanish power FC Barcelona.
Perkins, of Bartlett High fame, made 5 of 14 shots, including 2 of 5 3-pointers. He also had 2 steals, proving that’s he much more than just a scorer.
The 28-year-old playmaker is a NBA-caliber guard who injured his knee in last year’s Euroleague playoffs when he was with Israeli power Maccabi Tel Aviv.
