Kuper should be ready by July’s camp [Football]
The last time Anchorage’s Chris Kuper was on the football field in January he was being carted off with a nasty ankle injury.
After two surgeries and weeks of rehab and recovery, it looks like the sixth-year starting guard is close to coming back.
“I’m feeling better – better than I was three weeks ago,” he told the team’s website. “Every week is better, I think. I’m just ready to play football again.”
Kuper, of Dimond High fame, underwent his second surgery last month but remains on schedule with his projected 4- to 6-month return date after breaking his left in Week 17.
That means he should be good to go by training camp in July.
Teammate Elvis Dumervil can’t wait for Kuper to get back on the field.
“He’s been busting his butt working hard to get back,” Dumervil said. “That’s the kind of guy he is. He came in with a chip on his shoulder from when I’ve known him as a rookie. He has that fire in him and that is the kind of guy I will always go to war with.”
