Tinajero signs with Southern Illinois [Football]
After anchoring arguably the best offensive line in the junior college ranks, Joshua Tinajero of Anchorage was primed for a promotion.
It came courtesy of Southern Illinois University.
Tinajero, of South High fame, has accepted a scholarship offer to play football for the NCAA DI Sulukis of the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly known as I-AA.
The 6-foot, 300-pounder will play guard or center and have two seasons of eligibility after transferring from Saddleback Junior College.
Tinajero built a legacy for durability at Saddleback, where he played every down on offense during his two-year career. He was a first team all-conference pick as a sophomore.
He was part of an awesome offensive line that cleared the way for a running game that averaged more than 400 yards in each of his two seasons.
Tinajero joins a Southern Illinois team looking for its first Missouri Valley Conference title since 2008.
