Dunbar, Clarke compete at NCAAs [Track]
Kodiak’s Trevor Dunbar today ran a personal-best time in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
The sophomore at the University of Oregon finished sixth in the final out of 24 men in 13:44.16.
Dunbar was eighth with three laps to go.
In the men’s hammer throw, Jordan Clarke of Anchorage was the heartbreak kid as he just missed a chance to quality for the finals.
The junior at Arizona State University launched his third throw of the preliminary round of 208-10 to move into eighth place with only the top nine advancing to finals.
However, two clutch throws by his competition bumped him down to 10th, leaving him one spot shy of the finals.
Clarke, of Bartlett High fame, did earn second-team All-America honors with the finish.
