As a freshman guard last season, Derrick Wilson of Anchorage played only sparingly for Marquette University of the mighty Big East.

Mostly used in defensive situations, he was a backup and averaged 8.8 minutes in 33 games.

What a difference a year makes for Wilson.

Marquette assistant coach Aki Collins told scout.com that Wilson is the most improved offensive player since the end of last season.

Wilson, of East High fame, has developed his shooting and scoring ability, a part of his game he is bringing to life in the Milwaukee Pro-Am Summer League.

He plays for Team Baird [1-1]. The 6-foot-1 Wilson collected 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in his first game and produced 22-7-5 in his second game.
