Denver Broncos offensive lineman Chris Kuper of Anchorage is going back on the shelf.

The veteran right guard broke one of the bones in his left forearm yesterday at practice. He is expected to miss up to six weeks, The Denver Post reported, a timeline that would leak into the regular season.

Kuper, of Dimond High fame, is considered the team’s all-around best blocker.

This is his second major injury since Jan. 1 when he broke his leg in Week 15.

Kuper is also the team captain, a player the team rallied around the first time he got hurt. The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder has been a starter since 2007. He signed a contract extension in 2010.
