Alaskans shine in Michigan Tech debuts [Running]

September 12, 2012

There is something about Alaska runners making dynamic debuts for the Michigan Tech cross country team.

For the second time in two years an Alaska male was the team’s top finisher in the first race of the season.

This time it was Kyle Hanson of Fairbanks.

Last year it was Jani Lane of Anchorage.

Hanson, of Lathrop High, kicked off the 2012 season with a second-place finish at the Collegiate Open in Houghton, Mich.

Lane, now a sophomore, is nursing an injury and is slowly getting back into racing shape.
