Garness out for the season at USC [Football]

David Garness

Anchorage’s David Garness path to history with the University of Southern California football team will have to wait.

The reserve offensive lineman out of Bartlett High will miss the rest of the 2012 season with a back injury.

Garness, a JC transfer, redshirted last season and hasn’t appeared in a game this season. He is looking to become the first football letterman from Alaska.

The 6-foot-5, 295-pound junior was a backup at tackle and guard.

He transferred from City College at San Francisco, where his team was the state runner-up and he was named First Team Region I and All-Nor Cal Conference.
