Bowman makes play on Monday Night [Football]
Different number, same Zack Bowman.
Wearing jersey No. 38 – not his customary No. 35 – the fifth-year cornerback from Anchorage looked like his old self for the Chicago Bears in a 13-7 victory over Detroit on Monday Night Football.
This was his first game of the season, but it was like he never left.
Bowman, of Bartlett High fame, played on special teams and made two tackles and recovered a muffed punt. His recovered fumble in the third quarter led to a field goal and a 13-0 lead.
This is his second stint with the Bears after playing in 46 games from 2008 to 2011. Then he became a free agent and was picked up by Minnesota, but the Vikings released him before the season.
Bowman rejoined the Bears only a few days ago, and of course, he comes out in prime time and makes an immediate impact.
Then again, that’s Zack. He has the propensity to make big plays at the right time in Chicago. It’s like he was born to play there.
This was the fourth career fumble recovery for Bowman, who also has seven career interceptions and one touchdown.
