Something about being at home brings out the best in Seattle Pacific University soccer star Blaine Carver of Alaska.

Playing at home for the first time in five games, the ninth-ranked Falcons delighted their student section with a 2-0 win over Montana State Billings in GNAC men’s action.

Carver scored both goals, giving him a team-leading six Gs on the year.

“It definitely feels really good to be back,” he told the school’s website. “Part of it is just routine, eating at the same pre=game place and just knowing that our fans are going to support us here.”

Carver, of Soldotna High fame, scored in the 60th minute after taking a pass at the center of the box and lifting a 7-yard chip shot off the crossbar and into the goal.

He added his second goal in the 77th minute after securing a bouncing ball in the box and flicking it over the goalkeeper from 10 yards out.

Carver ranks third in the GNAC in goals [6] and fourth in points [14] in 12 games.
