Perkins early leader for POY honors [Basketball]

Anchorage’s Doron Perkins is making a strong case for player-of-the-year honors in Ukraine.

His team is 7-2 with him in the lineup.

BC Donetsk is 0-5 without the playmaker.

Perkins, of Bartlett High fame, showcased his all-around skills in an 80-68 win over Dnipro with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting, 13 rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Just another day’s work for the 6-foot-2 guard.

Perkins is averaging 11.4 points. He ranks eighth in the league in rebounding [6.8], fourth in assists [5.9] and second in steals [1.8].
