Winford sets example in exhibition [Basketball]

Now a senior at Eastern Washington University, basketball star Kevin Winford of Anchorage is responsible for scoring just as many points on the court as in the locker room.
So when the fresh-faced Eagles started slowly against Concordia in last night’s exhibition game, it was up to Winford to fire up the troops. They have 10 players new to the program and needed their leader to step up.
Enter Winford.
The former Bartlett High player of the year delivered 18 points and seven assists to lead Eastern Washington to a 96-70 victory.
“I just keep the locker room optimistic and positive,” he told the Spokesman-Review. “They look up to us [seniors] and they listen to us.”
