Christmas comes early for Bowman [Football]
Never mind Santa, Bennie Wells was giving away Christmas presents today.
Anchorage’s Zack Bowman of the Chicago Bears received a gift NFL touchdown after Wells slipped and lost the ball at the 1-yard line, where Bowman recovered the fumble and scored in a 28-13 win over Arizona.
“It’s Christmas, man, the time of giving,” Bowman told the Chicago Sun-Times. “I just came around the corner and happened to take a peek down and was like, ‘Whoa, there goes the ball.’ ”
It was the second career touchdown for Bowman in 55 NFL games.
Bowman, of Bartlett High fame, first found the end zone in 2008 when he recovered a muffed punt in the end zone against Minnesota.
In Alaska history, Bowman ranks third in career touchdowns, trailing only Rocky Klever [3] and Reggie Tongue [5].
