He is already having his best season as a rebounder, and now Damen Bell-Holter of Hydaburg is pouring in the points.

The 6-foot-9 senior at Oral Roberts collected his 13th career double-double with an 18-point, 14-rebound performance in a 72-57 loss to Memphis.

Bell-Holter, of Ketchikan High fame, sank 7-of-16 shots from the floor and 4-of-7 free throws. He also grabbed six offensive boards in 38 minutes.

This was his second double-double of the season.

“It helps my confidence because I know my team trusts that if they give me the ball, I’ll score of get fouled,” Bell-Holter told me.

He is grabbing a career-best 8.8 rebounds per game and he leads the Southland Conference with 106 boards in 12 games.

He is scoring 11.1 points per game, although he has gone for 21, 18 and 18 in three of his last four games.

“I’ve been aggressive the last few games,” he said. “I started off slow but my scoring has been taking off so I’m just gonna keep being aggressive.”
